The White Horse Company Logo Close up of draught beer taps and a table

We have just been awarded the Cask Marque seal of approval for our ales, we change them every week using old favourites, guest ales and local micro breweries

Lived in the area a few months now and beginning to gauge what's on offer. I must say that having now eaten here a few times that it offers consistently impressive levels of food, service and value. The staff have always been congenial and happy to chat, the atmosphere clean and well presented, and the food excellent. The range of beers is also a notable bonus. Happy to stand by this review and confidently say give it a go.

Very welcoming atmosphere. The Chef is also the manager/owner and he relates well to his customers. Good wide selection on the menu to satisfy most palates. Service very efficient when we got back from our walk, the food having been ordered before we set off. They accommodated one lady who did not walk but was joining us for the meal after. Food was hot and very tasty. The White Horse building has character and is welcoming. One of the group said that the Sunday lunches were also very good value for money.

We discovered this little treasure by accident whilst visiting my mother - the fact it's a pub should not necessarily be a reflection on visiting ones elderly mother! Anyway, the menu, whilst small looked very good, we were not disappointed, the dishes we chose, Barnsley lamb chops and steak one night, harissa lamb and Mediterranean burger tonight were absolutely sublime. The meat is locally sourced, cooked to perfection, stunning rare and succulent lamb, the burger loosely formed and filled with good quality beef, olives, Sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese - both served with good quality and interesting sides were exceedingly good, those who read our reviews will know we eat out a lot and enjoy high standards of cuisine.

The building itself is very old, still authentic without any extra dressing, the ceilings are beamed and very low so if like Paul you are tall be aware of the beams or feel the impact on your head! The chef is currently chasing his second career rosette, he was awarded one in his previous employment, the prices are average, just over £40 for two of us including wine and beer......Oh and Mr M tells me the selection of beers is good, local breweries are used as well as mainstream so for you beer lovers an extra plus point. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, the chef eager to please with no ego whatsoever, it is truly worth a visit - you will visit again I promise you
